Dreams Tulum is situated on the Caribbean coast of Mexico, approximately 81 kilometers (50 miles) south of Cancun International Airport. Depending on traffic, the drive takes about an hour and a half. The resort provides airport transfers at an additional cost, but you can also opt for a taxi or rent a car.
Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by the friendly staff who will take your luggage and guide you to the open-air lobby, adorned with traditional Mexican decor and a large fountain in the center. Check-in was smooth and efficient, and we were given refreshing welcome drinks while our room keys were being prepared.
2. Accommodations
Dreams Tulum offers 432 elegantly designed rooms and suites, each featuring a private balcony or terrace with either garden, pool or ocean views. We stayed in a Deluxe Room with Tropical View, which was spacious and beautifully decorated with a king-size bed, sofa, and modern amenities such as a flat-screen TV, mini-bar, and complimentary Wi-Fi.
The room also had a large bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub and separate shower, along with luxurious bath products. But what really stood out was the view from our balcony – stunning tropical foliage that made us feel like we were in a private oasis. It was the perfect spot to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening.

One of the highlights of staying at Dreams Tulum is the unlimited gourmet dining options. The resort boasts six restaurants, each offering a different cuisine to satisfy all taste buds. We dined at Portofino, an Italian restaurant that served delicious pasta and seafood dishes. The restaurant had a romantic atmosphere with a beautiful view of the pool and ocean.
For breakfast and lunch, we usually visited World Café, a buffet-style restaurant that offered a wide selection of international dishes. We loved the made-to-order omelets for breakfast and the fresh seafood options for lunch. There’s also El Patio, a Mexican restaurant, Seaside Grill which specializes in grilled meats and seafood, Bordeaux for French cuisine, and Himitsu for Asian fusion.
Apart from the sit-down restaurants, there’s also Coco Café which serves coffee and pastries, and Barefoot Grill which offers burgers and other casual snacks for those who prefer to eat by the pool or beach. And for a late-night snack, there’s 24-hour room service available.
4. Activities and Entertainment
Dreams Tulum has plenty of activities and entertainment to keep you entertained throughout your stay. For those looking to relax, there are two large swimming pools, one with a swim-up bar, and a massive Jacuzzi surrounded by lush gardens. The resort also has its own private stretch of white sandy beach where you can lounge on a beach chair and soak up the sun.
But if you’re feeling more adventurous, there are various water sports such as kayaking and snorkeling included in your stay. You can also take part in daily fitness classes, play beach volleyball, or learn how to make traditional Mexican cuisine in a cooking class.
In the evenings, the resort comes alive with live music, themed parties, and shows. During our stay, we were treated to a fire show on the beach, a Mexican-inspired party complete with dancers and a piñata, and a Broadway-style performance at the theater. There’s also a nightclub for those who want to dance the night away.
5. Spa and Wellness
The Dreams Spa by Pevonia is a haven of relaxation and rejuvenation. The spa offers a variety of treatments and services, including massages, facials, and body wraps, using natural and organic products. We indulged in a couples’ massage and it was one of the best we’ve ever had. The tranquil atmosphere and skilled therapists left us feeling completely relaxed and revitalized.
Apart from the spa, there’s also a state-of-the-art fitness center with modern equipment and daily fitness classes such as yoga and Pilates. The resort also has a jogging path and bicycles available for guests to use.

While there are endless activities and amenities at Dreams Tulum, if you’re looking to explore beyond the resort, there are plenty of attractions nearby. The famous Mayan ruins of Tulum are just a short drive away, and the concierge can arrange a tour for you.
